I was always told that growing up and being able to do certain things was the best part of getting older.. WRONG-O! I am currently in the process of losing my insurance. How is that fair? How is it fair that because I am not "seriously ill, pregnant, or under 21" that I no longer am allowed to have insurance? Another stipulation was that I have to work 100 hours per month. Well, apparently my job hates me because the last few weeks I've only been scheduled 3 days, and I certainly do not work 10 hour shifts to be able to add up to 100 hours in the month.
I don't see how it's fair that because I am none of those things that I get to lose my insurance. My insurance basically covers birth control and regular doctors visits. So basically, what it seems like to me anyway, is that I'm going to lose my insurance, but will be able to get it back because I will have become irresponsible and become pregnant. [However, my birth control is not for the sole reason of not having children, it's for other things such as acne, cramps, etc.]
Now, I'm not saying that just because you are pregnant that you should have insurance, you should have insurance if you are pregnant. What I am saying is that I may not look it, but I do have health concerns. I need to have a yearly exam every year; without it I could possibly get cancer. But, with losing my insurance, I will no longer be able to do that. Also, with the passing of my friend, I was finally thinking about going and talking to my doctor about anxiety and such.. Very well can't do that now because I can't afford the appointment or any of the medication I may have been prescribed.
I work. I have only called off ONE day of work in the past three years due to something other than functions that I need to attend. ONE DAY! I am not one of those people that are lazy and just expect the government to pay for my insurance and shit like that. I do not believe in that at all. I just don't see how it's fair that I am having the carpet ripped out from under me because I am healthy, not pregnant, and turning into an "adult".
Once again, our government proves how awesome they are. :D
